PA Percentages - Tougher Teen Driver Laws

 

Elements of House Bill 9

Increase behind-the-wheel training from 50 to 65 hours

 o

Require 10 of those hours be night driving

o

Require 5 of those hours be during inclement weather

Restrict number of non-family passengers to 1 person under age 18 for the first six months after being licensed. (Exceptions exist for family and parents/guardians.)

Make it a primary offense for a junior driver and any passenger under the age of 18 who isn't buckled up or securely fastened in a child safety or booster seat.
